The Candlewick Community celebrated "Taste Of Candlewick" on July 6th with a Karaoke Contest.  Once again we were outside on the beautiful grounds of the Dockside Bar & Grill.

The contest started at 6:00.  We were immediately swamped with singers many of whom were interested in entering the contest.  First prize was the honor of singing with the fantastic Blooze Brothers on July 7th.

The judges had a very difficult time narrowing the talented group down to 9 finalists.  After the 9 finalists sang the judges once again narrowed it down to 4 singers.  Mike, Christopher, Audrey, and Jeanette once again sang for the judges.  As the final decision the judges asked the contestants to sing a song they knew the Blooze Brothers would be playing.  Mike and Christopher were asked to sing "Soul Man".  Audrey and Jeanette were asked to sing "Respect".  Mike was the only contestant lucky enough to be familiar with the song choice.  Audrey was most familiar with country songs and at a disadvantage as were Jeanette and Christopher who weren't even born until about 20 years after these songs were hits.  All 4 contestants amazed the judges...especially the younger Christopher and Jeanette.  They took these songs and made them their own!  Not knowing the melody was of no concern to them.  They took the song key and sang their own melody that turned out to be an awesome REMIX of the original songs!!!  The judges were stumped as to what to do.  All the finalists were so talented!  Eventually the judges decided to pick on female and one male winner.  After much deliberation Mike and Jeanette were chosen to be the lucky ones to sing with the Blooze Brothers on July 7th.  CONGRATULATIONS!
