The North End Commons Business Association (NECBA) Annual Magnolia Festival was held on May 2nd & 3rd at N. Main & Auburn Street here in Rockford. The opening ceremony started noon and the event continued throughout the day until midnight on Saturday and 10:00 PM on Sunday.

This was a fantastic fun family event. Music Express provided the DJ music & karaoke along with fun games for young and old alike. On Saturday, Jimmy Z entertained everyone with his country music. John Burns, Phil Pilcher & Company played some jazz and comtemporary music. The Cash Box Kings an up and coming blues band played sounds of the 40's & 50's. Later on Saturday evening came dancing in the streets to the music of the classic rock band Mr. Big Stuff. On Sunday Music Express Karaoke & DJ Service entertained the crowds throughout the day. There was also the Boulas & High Sausalitos, an easy listening R&B group. Westside Andy & Mel Ford Band amazed everyone with their array of music styles and Andy's abilities on the harmonica. Men of Our Times closed out the day.

Billy the Balloon Guy thrilled young and old alike with his balloon creations. Janine Miller, a henna tattoo artist, added her artistic touch. There was also be a Silent Auction with bids being taken from 1:00 until 6:00.

Once again....THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC! Delicious authentic Italian dishes from Altamore Ristorante & Bratwurst from Der Rathskeller are just 2 examples of the mouth watering treats available.

Of course there were hundreds of gorgeous Jane Magnolia trees available for purchase. The NECBA wants to beautify Rockford and the surrounding communities in Winnebago County and are hoping to make us known as the Magnolia Capital of Illinois.
